Are You REady?

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was developed to help individuals access affordable health insurance through a health insurance marketplace where Americans can purchase federally regulated and subsidized health insurance during open enrollment.

In order to qualify, you must sign up during Open Enrollment but could still be eligible if you had a qualifying life event such as changing jobs or getting married/divorced. I can determine if you are eligible and help find you the best plan.

Each plan has its pros and cons, especially considering how costs can greatly range – depending on things like the plan’s deductibles, co-pays, premiums, and provider networks.

To help make the application process faster and easier, gather this information before you start your application. You won’t need all of this information if you’re applying for coverage without savings.

What is a Public Health Care Exchange?

A health insurance exchange can be compared to a store or shop that sells health insurance policies. Public health insurance exchanges are used to buy individual and family health insurance plans that are compliant with the ACA.

All plans sold on these exchanges must be “qualified” as meeting the Affordable Care Act’s requirements for Minimum Essential Coverage, which are as follows:

  • Have an actuarial value of at least 60%, meaning the plan covers at least 60% of costs (with the insured person, or participant, covering the rest).
  • Cover the following 10 essential health benefits:
    • Prescription Drugs
    • Pediatric Services
    • Preventive and Wellness Services and Chronic Disease Management.
    • Emergency Services
    • Hospitalization
    • Mental Health and Addiction Services
    • Pregnancy, Maternity, and Newborn Care
    • Ambulatory Patient Services
    • Laboratory Services
    • Rehabilitative and Habilitative Services and Devices
